'Til Tuesday was an American band which was formed in Boston, in 1982. The original members of the band were Aimee Mann (vocalist and bass player), Robert Holmes (guitar player & vocalist), Joey Pesce (keyboard player), and Michael Hausman (drum player). About six months after the inception of the band, they won Boston’s WBCN Rock & Roll Rumble in 1983. Their song called, Love In A Vacuum received some airplay on the radio station and eventually they signed up with Epic Records. They re-recorded, Love In A Vacuum for their debut album which they released in 1985 called, Voices Carry. Voices Carry turned out to be their breakthrough song and it reached number 8 on the U. S. Billboard Hot 100. It was said that the song was inspired from an argument between Michael and Aimee. The two broke up a relationship before the release of the album. The band was one of the first to have a music video played on MTV when their music video called, Voices Carry, was aired. The group won the MTV Music Award for Best New Artist that same year.

The group released the follow up album called, Welcome Home, in 1986. Aimee Mann was writing more of the songs and the band was changing their style from the new wave sound. The album just barely made it to the top U. S. top 50. After the group released the album, Pesce left the band and Michael Montes replaced him. Jon Brion and Clayton Scoble joined the group too as guitarists but they were not permanent members.

The band released their final album called, Everything’s Different Now, in 1988. The album was inspired somewhat from the breakup of Aimee Mann and her then relationship with Jules Shear, songwriter and singer. The relationship had lasted for about two years. The album received a lot of critical praise but the album was a commercial flop. The album reached number 124 and the lead single from it reached number 95. The band split up after the release of the album but Aimee Mann continued to tour using the band name, Til’ Tuesday, with different session players for several years after the breakup of the band. Epic records, the label the group had signed with previously, prevented her from working solo recordings for several years. Michael Hauseman eventually became Aimee’s manager and is still her manager today. If she keeps trying, who knows, one day she may have a number one hit.

The band released a total of 4 albums and 7 singles during their time as Til’ Tuesday. They did not hit it big like many bands did but they did make a mark in the music industry and had many fans.
